Not Just a Developer's IDE: Testers Using the "Developer Testing" Tools in Visual Studio
Visual Studio 2012 contains many features designed to help teams deliver high-quality software quickly and efficiently. Often, when these features are described they are split into 2 categories – “developer testing” tools and “tester testing” tools. While these distinctions efficiently distinguish the amount of technical knowledge needed to successfully use the functionality of the various tools, it doesn’t mean that technically skilled testers can’t get value from the developer tools or shouldn’t use them (even if the developers are already doing so). In this live workshop, we’ll talk about MS Test, how to use Fakes, Mocks and Shims beyond unit testing, and how to use Pex and Code Coverage measurements to identify additional testing requirements. This is an advanced workshop, and coding knowledge (preferably C#) is required to take full advantage of it, but for the testers with those skills, there is a lot of testing benefit to be gained by tapping into this traditionally developer-focused functionality!
