Event Details (Event Code:170192)
Here’s your chance to learn how to run Windows Server 2012 in the cloud on Windows Azure! Join us for a free Microsoft IT Lab for hands-on demos and interactive discussions with Microsoft technical experts.  You’ll work closely with the newly released Windows Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and also get the opportunity to get hands on with Windows server in your very own cloud based lab which you can setup for free. This is a half-day (3 hour) in-person event.

Bring your own machine and work through it yourself to get the most out of this Microsoft IT Lab session.  This is a hands-on environment where you can learn Windows Azure and Windows Server 2012 then expand on that knowledge by taking additional labs on some of the best features available in Windows Server 2012.

In this lab we will cover:
  • Lab segment 1: Overview of Windows Azure IaaS - Creating new Windows Server 2012 virtual machines on Windows Azure
  • Lab segment 2: Setup networking between multiple servers on Windows Azure, download Azure built machine.
  • Lab segment 3: Additional labs available to help you keep learning and progressing your career with either Windows Azure or Windows Server 2012
Format/Flow of Session:
This ½ day event will start out with a short presentation where you will learn about Windows Server 2012 and Windows Azure.  We will then quickly jump into you getting down to the business of building your public cloud infrastructure.  After you get your first server up and running on Azure you will still have time to play with technology so you can decide if you want to get more hands-on with Windows Azure or get deeper with Windows Server 2012 with your second lab.
Bring your own device, and pre-session set up requirements:
To participate in the hands-on lab sessions, you will need to bring your own computer (laptop preferred) with the ability to login to the Widows Azure web portal and remote control to a virtual machine running in the cloud using Remote Desktop Client. Recommend Laptop or “Surface Pro” but other devices that meet the requirements of being able to RDP to a server are fine. Don’t forget your power cord!

REQUIRED: You will also need to bring your Live ID (Microsoft Account) credentials.  If you do not have one, please create it in advance.  Don't have a Microsoft account? Sign up now!  You will also need a Windows Azure account.  If you do not already have one you can sign-up for a free account from http://aka.ms/IaaS.  Please note that this requires a credit card.  You will not be charged unless and until you switch over to a pay account at some time in the future. A Windows Azure Account is REQUIRED for this hands-on event.  It can take 20 minutes to setup your account so please do it in advance.
Optional: If you have an air card/Mifi, bring that too!  Your actual system specs may limit your lab options.

Seating is limited, so register today!
